Patient testimonial January 2019

Nineteen months ago, I joined one of the most fortunate groups of women by becoming a patient of Dr. Ceana Nezhat. He performed a five hour surgery that alleviated all of my symptoms. Symptoms which I endured for several years. I wish every woman had the opportunity to experience the care of a doctor as skillful and caring as Dr. Nezhat. I will forever hold him, his staff and Northside Hospital in the highest regard. They are all so very special to me.

Patient Letter 7-25-18

Dr. Nezhat, I wanted to formally thank you and your staff for the most compassionate and high-quality care I have received in 3 years after being diagnosed with my endometriosis.

My last visit to the ER here in New Orleans on June 21st is something I am certain will not happen again for many years. Dr. Bedestani, an expert in urogynecology, was the physician who read my CT and looked at my history and stated that I would need to see the best expert in the field for endometriosis. (He followed and was taught by your brother, Dr. Farr Nezhat.)

When I wrote on your website that I was desperate to be seen by you, I never imaged I would be contacted within one day! When I spoke with Mary Ann and she told me you were taking my case I burst into tears of joy and relief knowing God had finally put me in the right hands (and I’m not even religious!)

Today I feel better than I have in years because of you. I thank you for not only your expertise and hard work, but for the genuine compassion and empathy you have given me. My endometriosis had adversely affected my physical/mental state, my personal relationships, my education and professional responsibilities. Not anymore! I am typically a very hopeful and optimistic person, but the last two months had me so lost in confusion, anger and sadness. I can say today that, because of your care, I am none of those things. I am the cheerful, happy, dedicated and hard-working girl I know I am. You truly gave me my life back and no amount of thank yous, or even this letter, will be enough to show my gratitude and admiration for your care.

Please be very proud of your staff as well. I have honestly never encountered a medical practice where all staff were competent, compassionate and diligent workers! I look to your staff as more of a healthcare family.

I will see you in early September. I am writing and researching my literature review on endometriosis and pre-screening/treatment available in practice for adolescent females today. I hope it will make you proud! Sending all of my love and hugs your way!

Patient letter 11-27-17

Dear Dr. Nezhat, I do not have words to thank you enough. You are truly a remarkable surgeon and a caring human being! I appreciate the excellent care and concern you have given me. A million thanks.

Patient letter 11-19-17

Dr. Nezhat and team, I just couldn’t wait to write this letter to give a personal statement of my experience with you and your staff. I came to your office in April of 2016 for a consultation after being referred to you for infertility. I have come a long way in my 3-year journey struggling to become pregnant (after several failed IVF and IUI cycles). After seeing multiple specialists that gave me a less than 10% chance to conceive on our own, we were referred to you for one last hope to restore my reproductive system. I must say out of all of my doctors (and my last reproductive doctor that referred me to you), you were the most optimistic. I am happy to share with you these precious photos of our baby girl who was born on October 7, 2017.

There are no words that could I say to express my appreciation and thanks to you for your vision, optimism, gifted hands and medical intelligence, which helped us achieve our ultimate goal of becoming parents. We are more than grateful to you and all those who played a role and made this possible. I am a true believer in the impossible being possible. With our faith and your excellent medical skills, the impossible became possible. I hope you work to serve other women for many more years to come. I will continue to support your office and refer anyone that presents issues similar to those that I presented. You have helped make my dreams come true and help me live a better and healthier life (free from endometriosis and other issues). May you continue to be blessed and provide another family and/or woman the same desires of their heart.

Patient Testimonial 3/15/17

Ten years ago, today, I had surgery with Dr. Ceana Nezhat. Ten years of being pain free, something I thought was impossible! That is a miracle, and Dr. Nezhat is a gift from God. This is my story.

I started having “stomach” issues in 4th grade. From then until I was 18, I had tests to see if I had ulcers anything that would give the doctors an idea as to why I had stomach pain. I was diagnosed as lactose intolerant, irritable bowel syndrome, etc… At 18, my PCP told me he thought I had endometriosis and sent me to my OBGyn. Nothing more was mentioned of endometriosis for the next 4 years. In 1999, at the age of 21, I was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome and put on birth control pills. In January of 2000, I had my first of 7 surgeries. This one was to lance the cysts and at that time the endo was discovered. I was told it was mild, yet it was on my intestines which is why I had digestive issues. After that surgery, I was told I would have no more problems. That was wrong in so many ways. Starting in 2000, I was put on several different bcp and hormone medications. The worst being from a doctor at a well-known clinic who put me on depo Provera shots and activella pills at the same time. I thought I was going crazy.

These are the surgeries I have had:
*2000 – laparoscopy – discovered endometriosis and removed my appendix
*2001 – June laparoscopy to excise endo, July- oophorectomy of my right ovary and fallopian tube
*2002 – laparoscopy
*2003 – laparoscopy
*2005 – hysterectomy at the age of 28
*2007 – surgery with Dr. Nezhat

Up until I had met with Dr. Nezhat, each doctor I saw told me the pain was in my head and that there was no way the endometriosis had come back – it was impossible. Each surgery revealed not only endo, but worsening endometriosis that was destroying my ovaries and overall heath. Instead of trying to fix it, I was put on anxiety medication, hormones, and told to do pelvic floor exercises.

When I spoke to Dr. Nezhat (before ever meeting with him), he diagnosed me as having an ovarian remnant. Something no one had mentioned previously. He did some tests and had a plan ready the first time I met with him. The surgery with him was 4 hours long and he told my mom that I had “trash” left behind from previous surgeries. Since then, he still gets very upset when he talks about my past, but is the most compassionate, caring doctor I have ever seen. He is very thorough as well. I see him about 2 times a year to get my hormone implant, and he takes his time to talk to me about any questions or concerns I may have. He and Angela know that I am a huge worrier, but they don’t hold that against me. They are both very patient and reassuring and are always only a phone call away.

Since first meeting with Dr. Nezhat, I am a different person. I am happily married and more confident in myself and full of joy. Ten years ago, my life without pain began. I am continually humbled, amazed, and beyond thankful that God led me to Dr. Nezhat. Though, he won’t admit it, in my opinion he is the greatest doctor in the world. I have been to many who had god-complexes and didn’t care about their patients. Dr. Nezhat is the exact opposite. He is a very compassionate and knowledgeable doctor who is determined to fight endometriosis until it no longer exists. The world needs more doctors like him.

Patient Testimonial

Dr. Nezhat quite literally saved my life. He is one of the best doctors on the planet. People like me come from all over the United States for the honor of being one of his patients. I have referred over a dozen people to Ceana Nezhat – and every one of them has thanked me over and over again for the referral. If you’re looking for advanced care with a doctor and staff who listens and pays attention to detail, Dr. Nezhat is the best there is.

Patient Testimonial (2/27/17)

Dear Dr. Nezhat, I appreciate the great care you and your staff have given me. I feel I have received the best individually tailored care possible. The kindness, concern, and care you and your staff showed put my mind at ease. I felt I was treated as a person.

Thank you for personally calling me with the results of the biopsies. Your knowledge, skills, and individualized patient care makes you truly a great doctor, an expert in every aspect of patient care! Thank you again for all of the great care. I truly appreciate your skill and knowledge. I am very thankful you accepted me as your patient!

Family Member Testimonial (2/27/17)

Dear Dr. Nezhat, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for taking care of Lauren. One of the things that I so admire about you is your dedication to every detail and your concern to make sure every patient gets the best care possible. Besides the fact that no one equals (please don’t tell the other doctors I said this, although I think they would agree) your skill, experience, and ability. It was an honor to work with you years ago and watch your perfection and the way you treat every patient, just the way anyone would want for a family member or if they were having surgery.

Also, everyone in your office was so kind and caring. Angela has a heart of gold. Mary Ann’s follow up and concern to get us in was above and beyond. The girls at the desk were so positive and helpful.

Lauren says she is doing her best and is going to do everything you said to try to get better and hopefully that gets rid of her pain.

I wish you your staff and family the best in 2017 and thank you again for being the Dr you are the extraordinary excellence you provide to all your patients and to her.

Fibroid Testimonial

This is a note of appreciation to the team in Nezhat Medical Center who attended to me pre and post-surgery. I am most thankful to Dr. Ceana Nezhat for his patience, he’s sound medical advice and for his care pre and post-surgery. I thank God for creating such a wonderful man with such vast knowledge in the field of minimally invasive surgery.

I have had severe period pains and bleeding for over 20 years, I was diagnosed with multiple fibroids in 2004 but the doctors always ask 2 questions;

– Are you married?
– Are you planning on having kids anytime soon?

Since am not married and I have strong family values and Christian belief in having kids during wedlock, I did nothing about the fibroid but was always conducting pelvic scan every year to assess the size of the fibroid.

In 5 years, the fibroids grew 2ce its size and the pain got worse. In 2015, I decided to do something about it but had no clue which hospital or surgeon would perform the surgery. One thing I made up my mind on was I was not going to have the surgery in the United Kingdom.

I made a few calls to some medical centers in New York, California, Texas and Atlanta but what touched me was the warm reception I got from Dr. Nezhat assistant MaryAnn Bumgardner, she was warm, soft spoken, compassionate and she understood my fears and concerns because like myself she was also once a victim of my circumstance. God Bless her heart.

Subject to my research done on Nezhat Medical Centre, Dr. Ceana Nezhat and my conversations with MaryAnn, I made up my mind I was going to have the surgery done in Atlanta and Dr. Ceana Nezhat was going to perform the surgery.

As an outpatient, life was made easy and I was put through the procedures pre and post-surgery. Instructions and preparation for surgery was easily spelt out, location to the hospital (Northside Hospital) was also provided by Dr. Ceana’s medical team. His team were professional and gave excellent medical services.

My surgery took 7 hours and I can remember Dr. Nezhat saying to me when I woke up in the recovery room “You did real good”. “You will have beautiful babies”.

During the surgery, asides the multiple fibroids inside and outside my uterus, I also had endometriosis which was corrected by Dr. Ceana.

Post-surgery recovery process was not as painful as I thought and this was because I followed the Doctor’s instructions. The post surgery examination was with positive news. Am currently doing great, my stomach size has reduced drastically, I feel look and great. My period is regular as usual and the period pain has reduce to a large extent.

Once again on behalf of myself and my family, I say a very big thank you to Dr Ceana. Am glad I made the right choice and looking forward to seeing you when I start having babies.

Forever grateful

Family Testimonial

Dear Dr. Nezhat and team, I cannot thank you enough for your expertise, unique caring and concern for your patients. My mother, daughter and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

As you know, I have been coming to your office for years since moving to Atlanta in 1995, at my mother’s urging, as you have been her Doctor for years. You performed my hysterectomy several years ago and continue to help me 3 times a year with my hormone replacement, dramatically changing my life to a normal one that I can now enjoy.

Now that I have moved to Florida, I still make it a point to come to your office 2-3 times each year for my GYN health checks and hormones. No other doctor I have been to shows the care and concern for patients that you and your highly trained team do on a daily basis.

This past year, my 23-year-old daughter has had severe abdominal pain. She has been in and out of emergency rooms for the pain, seen multiple specialists in Athens where she is going to school, resulting in many pain pills, a colonoscopy, an endoscopy, many tests, and little resolution. Each time I visited her I could see the joy for life draining from her eyes.

A few weeks ago, my daughter’s boyfriend called me with my daughter screaming in pain in the background. Out of desperation I called your office, after normal work hours around 10 pm, for some sort of advice or direction on what we could do next. You returned my call immediately with a plan of attack for the very next morning and brought in two additional specialists, one in General Surgery and a Rheumatologist, to try to discover her pain issue. Since her surgery that week, she is feeling so much better. The joy for life is coming back into her voice. We are hoping that she will continue to be pain free and she can enjoy her young life, as a 23 year old should.

Thank you for helping us. Again, I cannot thank you enough.

Endometriosis Testimonial One Year Post Operation

I am writing this letter to share my very positive experience with Dr. Nezhat and his staff.

I have severe endometriosis. I didn’t know I had endometriosis until I was 40 because 1 didn’t have the excruciating pain typically associated with the disease. Over the next 8 years, my doctors monitored the endometriosis with regular ultra-sounds, blood tests and a laparoscopic surgery that removed most of an endometrioma on my right ovary. Even after surgery, the endometriosis progressed and the endometrioma continued to grow. Eventually, a blood test in June 2009 returned elevated levels of CA-125. At this point, my Gynecologist referred me to an Oncologist to discuss the results and possible treatment options. The Oncologist recommended a total hysterectomy and I scheduled the surgery.

At first, I assumed that a total hysterectomy was the only viable option. However, after a few days I decided to do my own research to see if I may have other options. I quickly learned that I might not need a total hysterectomy. I decided to seek out a second opinion and contacted the Endometriosis Association for recommended doctors in the Atlanta area. The Endometriosis Association sent me a list of about 5 specialists in Georgia including Dr. Nezhat.

During my consultation, Dr. Nezhat discussed my history, studied my medical history notes, gave me information about CA-125 and ovarian cancer and conducted an examination. After the exam, I met with Dr. Nezhat to discuss his recommendations. Dr. Nezhat told me that I had Silent Endometriosis and suggested I have surgery to remove as much as possible. He explained Silent Endometriosis was worse than “Level 4″ because I had no pain and no symptoms and therefore no mechanism to warn me when my endometriosis was beginning to harm vital organs. He also told me that he believed in only removing organs that were medically necessary. He had never had to conduct a total hysterectomy and that he had never lost a patient.

I decided to follow Dr. Nezhat’s recommendation and scheduled surgery with him. I’m happy to report that I did not need a total hysterectomy. My endometriosis had spread considerably, and Dr. Nezhat removed as much as possible; the endometriosis could have caused irreversible damage had I not had surgery.
My experience with surgery was quite positive. Dr. Nezhat’s staff is kind, supportive and professional and helped me prepare. I had the surgery at Northside Hospital where I found the staff exceptionally friendly as well. I recovered from surgery pretty quickly and was able to return to work in just under 3 weeks. Dr. Nezhat includes with his surgeries pre- and post-procedure recommendations (diet, supplements, walking exercise) that I followed. I believe I recovered more quickly from this extensive surgery because of these recommendations.

I’m writing this final paragraph a year after my surgery. I’m happy to report that this past year, my health has been the best it has been in a long time. My energy level is much higher and I didn’t get suffer from any colds this past winter (I had been averaging 2-3). People I haven’t seen in a while comment on how clear my skin and eyes look. I had no idea that my endometriosis was also wearing me down. I’m happy to write this letter to help anyone making the same decision I made last year.

Hysterectomy Testimonial

Dear Dr. Nezhat, I’ve never written a letter to my doctor before but you are unique among the doctors I’ve consulted and I can see from the patient letters in the binder that it’s an honored office tradition. Because of you and your staff, my hysterectomy was a completely positive experience.

There is such a lovely feeling in your office that I started thinking of it as gynecology summer camp. Along with an impeccably maintained clinical and professional atmosphere and great seriousness of purpose, there is also openness, compassion, and an abundance of good will and camaraderie. No artificial distance is created between staff and patients. This inspired complete trust and allowed me to surrender to the surgical process.

Your superb skill, intellect and highly precise answers to all my questions created a level of confidence and relaxation, adding to my positive outcome.

Beyond your medical and surgical brilliance, you are a true healer. You give a whole new meaning to the phrase “being seen by a doctor,” because you see us as individuals. Even more unusual, you let us see your humanity. There is a level of vulnerability in the way you care for your patients. I imagine some of your colleagues may think it’s excessive but wager that none of your patients agree with them. To see and be seen is immensely healing. You share with your patients the burden of illness, in a way that is unprecedented in my experience of bio-medicine. It is a privilege to be your patient.

Laparoscopic Hysterectomy Testimonial

Dear Dr. Nezhat, I realize that many months have passed since my surgery. Since you are a physician, I know that you understand the delay. I really wanted to sit down with adequate time to convey my gratitude.

I sought several opinions regarding my hysterectomy prior to coming to Atlanta. Due to my previous surgeries, a laparotomy from MVA and C-section, no surgeon would attempt laparoscopic hysterectomy. They all said that it could not be done.

I was scheduled for surgery in Pensacola, Florida. Fortunately, my sister insisted that I schedule a consultation with you before this procedure. You said, “Let’s prove them wrong.” I had extensive adhesions with bowel adhered to my abdominal wall. I do not even want to speculate what would have happened if I had undergone open abdominal surgery. I know that my surgery was a challenge, but I was recovered in 2 weeks without any complications. In fact, everything seems to work better!

I knew that I was in competent hands the moment that I met you. I appreciate your attention to detail. As a physician, I think you are a great doctor.

Endometriosis Testimonial, 17 Year Old Female

When you are 17, have plans to attend college out of state, and are so excited about all life has to offer, being very ill and learning you have endometriosis, a debilitating disease, is not easy. Endometriosis turns your life around and you realize that you may not be able to do all the things you once dreamed. It is an emotional, as well as a very painful, journey.

By the grace of God and my strong-willed and bright mother, I ended up in Doctor Ceana Nezhat’s office. He has performed two major surgeries on me. The last surgery was a bowel resection and as soon as I woke up from surgery, I felt better. The pressure and agonizing pain were gone. It was amazing. Plus, I have no visible scars from the surgeries due to Dr. Nezhat’s minimally invasive techniques.

There are few people in life I feel as much gratitude toward or trust as much as I do Dr. Nezhat. He saved my life and continues to do so. He has listened, healed, and motivated me every step of the way. Angela, his nurse, works tirelessly with him making sure that I am okay. Having endometriosis, an incurable disease, is scary, painful and difficult but knowing that I have Doctor Nezhat makes it less scary and doable. I know I can trust Dr. Nezhat to take care of me and help me in any way in the future that I may need. Words cannot describe how grateful I am for that.

For any girl out there hurting, scared and looking for help, trust Dr. Nezhat. There is not a doctor who knows more in the field, is more talented, smart, or caring than Dr. Nezhat. He is the best. My mother, aunt and I all trust Dr. Nezhat and have had surgery performed by him.

Dr. Nezhat, you are a wonderful, wonderful doctor and person. I am so blessed to have you as my doctor! You may even be my guardian angel Thank you, thank you, thank you a million times.

Thank you to Angela, Mary Ann and all the Nezhat Medical Team! You are all angels.
