Dear Dr. Nezhat, I’ve never written a letter to my doctor before but you are unique among the doctors I’ve consulted and I can see from the patient letters in the binder that it’s an honored office tradition. Because of you and your staff, my hysterectomy was a completely positive experience.
There is such a lovely feeling in your office that I started thinking of it as gynecology summer camp. Along with an impeccably maintained clinical and professional atmosphere and great seriousness of purpose, there is also openness, compassion, and an abundance of good will and camaraderie. No artificial distance is created between staff and patients. This inspired complete trust and allowed me to surrender to the surgical process.
Your superb skill, intellect and highly precise answers to all my questions created a level of confidence and relaxation, adding to my positive outcome.
Beyond your medical and surgical brilliance, you are a true healer. You give a whole new meaning to the phrase “being seen by a doctor,” because you see us as individuals. Even more unusual, you let us see your humanity. There is a level of vulnerability in the way you care for your patients. I imagine some of your colleagues may think it’s excessive but wager that none of your patients agree with them. To see and be seen is immensely healing. You share with your patients the burden of illness, in a way that is unprecedented in my experience of bio-medicine. It is a privilege to be your patient.
Dear Dr. Nezhat, I realize that many months have passed since my surgery. Since you are a physician, I know that you understand the delay. I really wanted to sit down with adequate time to convey my gratitude.
I sought several opinions regarding my hysterectomy prior to coming to Atlanta. Due to my previous surgeries, a laparotomy from MVA and C-section, no surgeon would attempt laparoscopic hysterectomy. They all said that it could not be done.
I was scheduled for surgery in Pensacola, Florida. Fortunately, my sister insisted that I schedule a consultation with you before this procedure. You said, “Let’s prove them wrong.” I had extensive adhesions with bowel adhered to my abdominal wall. I do not even want to speculate what would have happened if I had undergone open abdominal surgery. I know that my surgery was a challenge, but I was recovered in 2 weeks without any complications. In fact, everything seems to work better!
I knew that I was in competent hands the moment that I met you. I appreciate your attention to detail. As a physician, I think you are a great doctor.
When you are 17, have plans to attend college out of state, and are so excited about all life has to offer, being very ill and learning you have endometriosis, a debilitating disease, is not easy. Endometriosis turns your life around and you realize that you may not be able to do all the things you once dreamed. It is an emotional, as well as a very painful, journey.
By the grace of God and my strong-willed and bright mother, I ended up in Doctor Ceana Nezhat’s office. He has performed two major surgeries on me. The last surgery was a bowel resection and as soon as I woke up from surgery, I felt better. The pressure and agonizing pain were gone. It was amazing. Plus, I have no visible scars from the surgeries due to Dr. Nezhat’s minimally invasive techniques.
There are few people in life I feel as much gratitude toward or trust as much as I do Dr. Nezhat. He saved my life and continues to do so. He has listened, healed, and motivated me every step of the way. Angela, his nurse, works tirelessly with him making sure that I am okay. Having endometriosis, an incurable disease, is scary, painful and difficult but knowing that I have Doctor Nezhat makes it less scary and doable. I know I can trust Dr. Nezhat to take care of me and help me in any way in the future that I may need. Words cannot describe how grateful I am for that.
For any girl out there hurting, scared and looking for help, trust Dr. Nezhat. There is not a doctor who knows more in the field, is more talented, smart, or caring than Dr. Nezhat. He is the best. My mother, aunt and I all trust Dr. Nezhat and have had surgery performed by him.
Dr. Nezhat, you are a wonderful, wonderful doctor and person. I am so blessed to have you as my doctor! You may even be my guardian angel Thank you, thank you, thank you a million times.
Thank you to Angela, Mary Ann and all the Nezhat Medical Team! You are all angels.
